abstract = "Lack of skills in use of the new information technologies is now regarded as a barrier to the inclusion of the elderly in a modern society. The possibility of such inclusion could be very important for the elderly who have no access to computer or internet connection at home. Improving access to services is considered important in the design of the modern welfare state. In Russia, more than 10 years computer and internet training for elderly is widely deployed. Training courses are provided by social services, libraries and some NGOs. These courses were necessary for opening an access for elderly to use services offered by the state - electronic services, on-line registration for a variety of services and postal communications.
The development of ICT has made important corrections in the lives of elderly people. ICT use became a new consumer practice, but has it influence that much on their quality of life? Answers on this and other questions we are trying to find here.
Our article presents a brief description of conducted earlier qualitative studies of the new consumer practices of elderly people, first of all, of the practices of ICT use and their influence on elderly’s social inclusion.",
