abstract = "Ural Federal District is one of the nine federal districts of Russia. Its population is about 8.4% of Russia. The paper covers the main trends in demographic and health development in the Ural Federal District for a long time span as well as results of demographic and population health projections up to 2030.
Main demographic indicators by administrative units of the Ural Federal District for the period 1990-2015 are presented. The paper contains data related to population size dynamics, natural population increase features, transformation of the population’s age structure, life expectancy in birth and infant mortality.
Data on morbidity of population and prevalence of such social significant diseases as malignant neoplasm and HIV for 1995-2015 are considered. Comparisons with demographic and health data on Russian federation as whole are presented.
The second part of the work is dedicated to forecasting of demographic and health dynamic in the region up to 2030. Projections of population size are compiled by the method of shifting basic data forward by age. Total population size in each administrative division of the Ural Federal District is a sum of results of shifting by the above-mentioned categories. Demographic forecasting is based on extrapolation of existing demographic trends (age-specific fertility and mortality rates).",
