  • Moldoveanu, L. E.
Abstract:
Prevention in oral-dental health, new technologies for diagnosis and treatment, easier access to oral-dental care services and health information are factors that have contributed to lower prevalence of dental caries. Compared with developed countries, in Romania the level of dental caries is much higher, which is an alarm signal. During 1996-1998, according to WHO data, Romania was rated a DMFT index for the entire population of 7.3 compared with 4.4 Bulgaria, Hungary - 3.8 and 0.9 in Great Britain and Switzerland. Objective of the study: Awareness raising among children and parents on the role of oral hygiene and tooth brushing need twice a day, using the Bass brushing technique. Purpose of the project: promoting proper and healthy dental hygiene and a friendly attitude in terms of tooth brushing, training a growing interest in oral health issues, knowledge of proper tooth brushing, knowledge of the concepts of health and disease in order to correct dental hygiene, training of rational eating habits, an important role in preventing tooth decay, developing the ability to use dental hygiene rules by correcting wrong habits and encouraging the proper ones. Material and method: The opportunity of the volunteer students from the Faculty of Dentistry Constanta, Ovidius University to have direct relationship with their little patients by the method of “face to face” direct discussion (with no briefing) and various collateral fun activities: videos, drawings, models, flyers for both children and parents, specialty catalogues, brochures, samples (toothbrushes and toothpaste). Discussions: Since the most incriminated components of the diet related to favoring the occurrence of tooth decay are carbohydrates, we are more and more often warned about reducing the frequency of sugar consumption. Conclusions: The impact of oro-dental health on the body is reflected in the quality and rigor of tooth brushing.
